BRIEF EXPLANATION OF HOW THE THIRD MICROCLIMATE OF THE WORLD IS FORMED
VILLA DE MERLO enjoys a special climate summarized in this point, but if you want more information and its Scientific Base to go deeper into this topic,
request it by email.
Villa de Merlo and its surroundings have the Third Microclimate in the World, named after his Prodigal Son Mr. José Mercau, the first and great scholar of the
subject, since the other very special Microclimates on the Planet are in: the Canary Islands, California and Switzerland among others.
Here several geographical and climatic characteristics come together that make it unique in the world, achieving an environment where the person who lives or
is a Guest will feel in good spirits, breathing fresh air and, as if that were not enough, also special dry air for the respiratory patients, who on the other hand recommend this place to live.
Villa de Merlo is located between 800 and 1200 meters above sea level, at the foot of the mountain range called DE LOS COMECHINGONES (in homage to the Indian
tribes that inhabited it in the Pre-Hispanic Era) that run from SOUTH to North, constituting a natural barrier against humid winds and rains that come from the Atlantic Ocean.
In this way, see figure:
the rains (1) coming from the East (from the neighboring Province of Córdoba) and the Atlantic Ocean rise and they collide against the mountainous wall, discharging the water (2) on the Cordoba side but without transferring to the Merlo side.
Then the water seeps through the ground on both sides of the Mountains and appears as numerous Streams. and Crystalline Water Springs on the Merlo side (3) in 6 Main Streams throughout the year, one of which crosses exceptionally within our Cerro de Oro Tourist Complex.
In this way the atmosphere appears clean and diaphanous, giving the vegetation an aromatic aspect, pure and sunny days almost all year (approximately 330 days) and for this reason the entire Region is called «VALLE DEL SOL». The rains that arrive in Merlo mainly between December and March of each year (that is, in Summer) they come from the West (Pacific Ocean and the Andes), sometimes from the South and others from the North and generally 80% occur at dawn and the next morning the sky clears as if it had not rained allowing the Guests and inhabitants of the city continue with normal activities but giving life to the vegetation. To these important aspects are added:
* That the annual average humidity is around 45%.
* That the air contains a negative ionization greater than normal.
* That there is a slight natural radioactivity.
